Introduction
The Library of the SPTM Shirpur was established in 2007 and it is one of the first three departments started in the Institute. The library is considered as one of the best Pharmacy libraries in India. In the year 2011 the library has been renamed as ‘Mukesh Patel Central Library, Shirpur. It would be not an overstatement to state that the Mukesh Patel Central Library is the largest and finest of its kind in this part of the world.
The primary mission of the library is to support the educational and research programs of the institute by providing physical and intellectual access to information, consistent with the present and the anticipated educational and research functions of the institute. In accordance with the objectives of the institute, the library aims to develop a comprehensive collection of documents useful for the faculty and the research community of the institute.
The secondary mission is, to serve as a resource centre for scholars and scientific community of the country. The collection of the library which includes books, journals, reports, and standards, some of the rare reference materials and several important journals. This vast reservoir of knowledge, on a conservative estimate, is worth over Rs. 68 lakh. The annual budget of the library is over Rs. 25.00 lakh of which subscription towards periodicals/ Journals (Print and e-Journals) alone is about 10.00 lakh.
The library has been using the LIBSYS an Integrated Library Management software package with all the modules for the library housekeeping operations. Using LIBSYS WEB OPAC, users can search the Library Online Catalogue by Author, Title, Subject, and keywords. Also, the users can get the information regarding the new arrivals & latest additions of periodicals and books, also they can know the status of any particular document whether it is available in the library for issuing or not. The user can also reserve the book online.
