A Report On The Orientation Programme Held On 3rd July 2017

Venue: “C” Wing MPTP, Shirpur Campus

The orientation program is an opportunity for any student to learn, how to navigate this campus and will introduce School of Pharmacy & Technology management (SPTM). Orientation can be used to build a network of resources that will help students and their parents to start their SPTM journey in better manner on the right path.

This is a formal welcome to the students to SVKM’s NMIMS family and introduce to them with culture of the School, campus and University. The program consists of a brief introduction of the SVKM, the University, NMIMS and Mukesh Patel Technology Park (MPTP). It also includes the information about

Infrastructure of School of Pharmacy & Technology Management; Examination rules & Regulations; Housing and Meal plans; Library & Books; Teaching & Tutoring; Sports & Culture events and many other campus resources!

This academic year, the orientation program was organized for B. Pharm MBA (PT) students on July 03, 2017.

Program was started with Saraswati Vandana, NMIMS anthem, in presence of Mr. Rajeev Dalal, Deputy Registrar, NMIMS, Dr. Ashwini Deshpande, Associate Dean of SPTM, Dr. Deshpande SS, Dr. Bonde CG and Dr. Sateesh B.

Dr. Ashwini Deshpande, the Associate Dean of SPTM welcomed and congratulated for their acceptance to the School of Pharmacy & Technology Management, SVKM’s NMIMS. She introduced them with Shri Vile Parle Kelvani Mandal (SVKM) and the achievements and mile stones the Mandal has achieved with constant pursuance of excellence. She further explained the development of NMIMS, under the umbrella of SVKM and its progress. In her speech she also threw a light on accomplishments the university has achieved.

She also gave students a brief introduction to School of Pharmacy and Technology Management, Shirpur, famous with name – SPTM. In her introduction, she spoke about the development and success that SPTM has achieved during its 10 years of existence.

Followed by Dr. Deshpande, Mr. Ravindra Mendhe, briefed about the services and facilities available with MPTP central library, including total books, volumes and regulations of Library access. After Library introduction, it was Mr. Ajay Wagh, Faculty In-charge for BBLMS discussed the Blackboard Learning management System (BBLMS) to Parents & students, he thrown a light on utilities and application of LMS for both student and parents. This has been followed by presentation by Dr. Amit Page in which he guided students on the pattern, rules and regulations of examinations in absence of Mr. Mayur Vaidya, Asst. Registrar, examination. Dr. Page explained that detailed orientation for all the students is planned with CoE Mr. Ashish Apte and he will be elaborate all the rules. As it is a residential campus, the hostel rules and security of students plays a major role in academic performance of students, which was well elaborated and explained Mr. Anil Nigam, Dy. Head, Campus security. He also thrown a light on disciplinary guidelines, rules and regulations of hostel and campus with special reference to mandate issued by Govt India regarding Ragging.

In the last part of the programme, Dr. Amit Page, explained about students mentoring. Accordingly, list of a mentor and students allotted to them was announced by him. In his short presentation he appealed all parents to keep on interacting with mentor about their academic, social and hostel related issues for better grooming of their ward.

Orientation programme was concluded by Dr. Ashwini Deshpande, Associate Dean SPTM, with her Vote of thanks, followed by National Anthem.

The entire programme was detailed and anchored by Dr. Santosh Yele.

After the formal part of the program, students were sent to their mentors. The first session of mentor-mentee interaction was held in presence of parents, where parents were assured about students stay at the campus. Mentors and Parents exchanged mutual contact details for further communication.
