Under the leadership of honourable Director R.S. Gaud and Associate Dean, Dr. Ashwini Deshpande, SPTM began the Guest Lecture series for the academic session by inviting Dr. Mahesh Burande, Honorary Director, Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research - as guest speaker.
Dr. Burande, an eminent academician with over 35 years of experience in the industry spoke on various fronts of the pharmaceutical sector in India. He started with the potential of India to stand out as the largest manufacturer of pharmaceuticals due to the population advantage. During his talk he shared the success stories of many of Indian Pharma companies and also of outstanding people who made it big in their domain & representing the companies like- Sun Pharma, Cipla, Wockhardt, Serum Institute, Mankind Pharma etc. He touched up on diverse opportunities in the pharmaceutical industry and also inspired the students to be an entrepreneur. Dr. Burande shared facts and figures of pharma sector and mentioned that there is dearth of medicines for over 10,000 diseases hence stressed that India to focus more on Research and Development. He shared his mantras for success with the audience giving emphasis on attitude, skill and desire to work. The talk concluded with a question and answer session, where Dr. Burande clarified the queries raised by the students & was followed by vote of thanks by Prof. Sateesh B. The entire event was co-ordinated by Dr. Preeti C. Sangave, Associate Professor.
