A health and hygiene drive was conducted by the students of NMIMS Shirpur campus under the guidance of Dr. Payal Dande, to the deaf and dumb school located in Shirpur. This was mainly targeted to improve the oral health and hygiene amongst the students under the mission of Swacchata Pakhwada on September 9th, 2017.
Teaching the maintenance of Oral health and hygiene:
The importance of cleanliness cannot be denied and maintaining a clean environment is for the health of all people, as their health completely depends on the atmosphere.
To spread the importance of cleanliness of environment, self-health and hygiene, the students of SPTM, Shirpur visited the deaf and dumb orphanage under the mission of Swacchata Pakhwada on September 9 , 2017. The visit was to make them aware about the importance of cleanliness, hygiene and health. Few student volunteer demonstrated how to wash their hands with the help of sign language and visual aid posters showing the various 8 steps in sequence. They were taught the correct brushing techniques and the use of pea size toothpaste and were made to do the activity.
All the posters related to face wash, handwash and brushing technique were pasted in washroom, and near the classroom to work as ready reckoner for the future use.
We also showed the importance of keeping the environment clean by cleaning the orphanage premises along with them. Donations of brooms and dustbin were done to the orphanage for their future use. The event turned out to be a major success and was worth as it was helpful to teach them the real values and importance of cleanliness.
