The Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC) meeting was conducted on 8th of January 2026. This was the eighth meeting after reconstitution of the IAEC and the second meeting after revision. Dr. Shyam S. Pancholi chairman of IAEC Committee welcomed all members of IAEC. He discussed the agenda and detailed the about the number of protocol to be presented. He ensured members about careful handling and use of animals by the students performing the practicals. All the committee members inspected the animal house facility of the institute. Dr. Shyam S. Pancholi ensured that maintenance of animal house facility and care of animals are as per the CCSEA guidelines. The main nominee checked documentations related to animal housing conditions, animal stock record, husbandry practices, etc. In the meeting, principal investigators explained their proposals in front of the committee. Through the thorough discussion, committee members approved 27 proposals (protocols) after considering their absolute need. As per the requirements the committee members have given their suggestions to change the number of animals in their research protocols. (List of approved protocols is enclosed). Committee members, considering the need of such animal experiments, approved the use of animals for these protocols. No. SPTM/01/2026/IAEC/01 to 27.
