Health, Environment, Education, Social Equity, Agriculture & Rural Development Awareness Campaign.
SHIRPUR, 2026
— In a landmark initiative for regional sustainability, SVKM’s NMIMS Shirpur campus recently hosted the "Health, Environment, Education, Social Equity, Agriculture & Rural Development Awareness Campaign." Funded by the Mirae Asset Foundation under the SVKM’s NMIMS ESG Research Chair, the event marks the beginning of a data-driven mission to revitalize 20 villages across Shirpur Taluka.

The ceremony commenced with the traditional lamp lighting by a panel of esteemed leaders:

  • Chief Guest: Hon. Kashiram Vechan Pawara (MLA, Shirpur)
  • Shri. Bhupeshbhai Patel: Joint President, SVKM
  • Mrs. Rita Patel: I/C Shirpur Campus
  • Shri. Rajgopalji Bhandari: Mentor, SVKM

A key highlight was the felicitation of Gram Sarpanchs and School Principals from the 20 participating villages, recognizing their pivotal role in the grassroots survey operations that formed the foundation of this project.

Dr. Sunita Patil (Director, MPTP) welcomed the gathering, followed by a comprehensive project briefing from Dr. Shyam Sunder Pancholi (Associate Dean, SPTM) and Dr. Venkatadri Marriboyina (Associate Dean, MPSTME).

The team unveiled an interactive Power BI village dashboard, revealing real-time analytics on:

  • Water Scarcity & Sanitation: Identifying critical infrastructure deficits.
  • Agricultural Impact: Highlighting chemical overuse and soil health.
  • Social Equity: Mapping gaps in education and rural infrastructure.

This "Phase 1" baseline assessment now serves as a strategic roadmap for targeted "Phase 2" interventions. The campaign featured sessions from industry veterans focused on actionable change:

  • Holistic Development: Shri. Rajgopalji Bhandari emphasized maternal health and women's access to delivery services, pledging NMIMS's support to bridge the gap between rural needs and healthcare infrastructure.
  • Preventative Health: Dr. Ravi Wankhedkar (IMA National Leader) delivered a vital talk on "Clean Water, Clean Surroundings." He provided practical tips on boiling, chlorination, and the dangers of pesticide bioaccumulation.
  • The 'Shirpur Pattern': Shri. Tukaram Ramkrishna Dorik discussed the success of 190+ bandharas (check dams) initiated by Shri. Amrishbhai Patel, which have transformed barren lands into fertile, perennial farms.

The campaign saw enthusiastic representation from across the Taluka, including leaders and citizens from: Sule, Rohini, Khamble, Sangvi, Zhende-Anjan, Waghadi, Nimjhari, Budki, Vikharan, Tekwade, Bhampur, Ahilyapur, Holnanthe, Pilode, Babhalaj, Varul, Gartad, Bhorkheda, Asali, Savalde, and Kharde.

The event concluded with a collective Water Conservation Pledge, reinforcing a shared responsibility toward the environment. A sincere vote of thanks was extended to the Mirae Asset Foundation for their funding, as well as the execution team led by Dr. Mahendra Prajapati, Mr. Rajesh Verma, and Dr. Vishal Beldar (NSS In-charge). The campaign stands as a testament to NMIMS Shirpur’s dedication to integrated rural development and ESG excellence.
